History

In 1985 teams belonging to the Italian Volleball Federation were allowed to participate and one of them, Juniors Casarsa,
won not only the 1985, but also the 1986 and 1987 editions. 1988 was the last all-provincial edition and was won by Virtus Fontanafredda.
In 1989 teams from other Italian regions took part to the tournament and one of them, Vittorio Veneto, gained
the first place. The following year the competition was held during Easter holidays, so that foreign teams could join the tournament.

The 1990 edition became the first international one. As a matter of fact Austrian and Jugoslavian teams took
part to the competition. The winner that year was Friuli Venezia Giulia Selection, which caused a controversy that
led to exclude that kind of teams from the following editions. In 1991 the competition was won by Cimos Koper from Yugoslavia, which was the first foreign team to win.

All these competitions were only for female teams; 1992 edition was the first with a female tournament and also a male one... That year the male session was won by Appio Roma while the female one by Kennedy Udine.
In 1993 the male winner was the bulgarian team of CSKA Sofia and the female one was the team of Pula, from Croatia, many of whose players later become part of the Croatian National Team.
In 1994 the tournament was won by other two international teams: CSKA Sofia in the female competition, while Olympia Praha (Czech Republic) won the male one.
Moreover every year was organized an high-level friendly match for charity; thus not only many third world children could go to school but also sports lovers were able to see Italian A1 teams such as Wubert Schio, Siap Brescia,
Petrarca Padova, and Nausicaa Reggio Calabria.

The 1995 female competition's winner was Foppapedretti Bergamo, which started a great period of success that is still going on.
In 1996 there we have seen the victories of Sumirago Varese in the female category and CSKA Sofia in the male one.

1997 presented some surprise victorie. Orion Geas Sesto San Giovanni beats the young Istrian Selection of Pula (that
team has 7 junior national players that in the same year reached the 3rd place in European Championship).

The Hungarian team of Gyor Roplabda conquer the male title. The well known junior team of Teodora Ravenna at his first appearence in the tournament won the cup in 1998. In male category there was the dominion of
Levski Sofia. Ravenna likes to win the tournament and double the title in 1999, defeating the local team of
Domovip Porcia.
Second title awarded also for Gyor Roplabda. On next year the boys from Gyor surrendered to
Varna team from Bulgaria while in the female tournament Domovip Porcia lost the second final match in a row against the strong team of Pula. In 2001 another local team, Latus Pordenone won the title while Gyor takes
a revenge on Varna and pick up its third title.

In 2002 there's the winning return of Teodora Ravenna while Hypo Bank Klagenfurt write down for the first time its name in the competition's roll of honour..In 2003 there's
the victory of Spartak Subotica from Yugoslavia in the female competition. Varna outstands evry other team in
the male category.
2004 will be remembered thanks to the victory of the brazilian team of Superball Belo Horizonte.
Austrian boys of Klagenfurt had the chance to win their second title.
In 2005 edition there's another Italian victory thanks to Argentario Trento. In male category stands out the
incredibile potential of the Indian Junior National Team that smashed every opponent.
In last edition Indian boys double their title , thanks also to the multitude of supporters that crowded the
sport hall durino the final match. Italian Youth National team takes part to this edition, showing us our
future champions. In female category there was the victory of the well known team of Asystel Novara after
a 5 set hard struggle against the local team of Domovip Porcia.
